Coaching Points 

  • This exercise incorporates the Angular Shank Loading Model – Posterior Chain Series 3.0
  • Step off the elevated surface: Instruct the athlete to step off the elevated surface with one foot while maintaining balance and control. Encourage the athlete to push off the elevated surface with the other foot to initiate the movement.
  • Pause for 1 second when hitting the ground: Emphasize the importance of landing with proper technique and absorbing the impact by bending at the hips, knees, and ankles. Instruct the athlete to hold the landing position for one second to ensure stability and balance before moving on to the next phase.
  • Explode for maximum height: Cue the athlete to rapidly extend their hips, knees, and ankles to generate upward momentum. Emphasize the explosive and powerful movement to achieve maximum height during the jump.
  • Stick the landing: Encourage the athlete to maintain control and stability throughout the jump. Instruct them to land with both feet simultaneously and absorb the impact by flexing their hips, knees, and ankles to minimize stress on the joints.
